MIDDLEBRO, MANITOBA, Canada – Ever notice that there are people who spend much of their time wishing? A lot of them seem to wish that somebody would appear to fix their world and make their dreams come true. But every now and then we run into people who are different. Those people don’t spend time wishing or dreaming; they spend time doing. And instead of wishing someone else would come and fix the world, they are doing it themselves – with hard work and ideas.

Two Manitoba businesses are world class, according to Square, a technology company that offers point of sale solutions. Middlebro butter company Von Slick’s Finishing Touch and Winnipeg charcuterie café and catering service Sharecuterie were honoured as part of Square’s second-annual Square 50, an awards program the company says champions “businesses that are changing the entrepreneurial game.”

Square 50 is back for its second year to celebrate businesses reaching major milestones within their operations. After receiving more than a thousand submissions from across the globe, meet the 50 businesses selected to be part of this year’s best.

Von Slick's Finishing Touch, a flavoured butter company based in Middlebro, Manitoba, competed in a number of categories at the World Dairy Expo's product contests earlier this month. The buttery biz came away the first and only Canadian winner at the event held in Madison, Wisconsin.
